Paper airplanes are popular origami projects among both the young and the young at heart, but have you ever thought about making a money origami airplane? A simple airplane folded from the currency of your choice gives you an entirely new way to play with your money ! Money origami is often left as a tip for your restaurant server, but a money origami airplane is also an interesting way to present a cash gift to a child. Put the airplane in a folded origami gift box. If you're making the airplane in this tutorial for a child, add the paper clip mentioned in Step 4 to make sure the model is easily recognized as an airplane when the child opens the box. Supervise the child carefully when he or she is playing with the airplane, however. You don't want the airplane to fly away and leave the child without any money to spend ! Although all money origami projects recommend using a crisp bill, this is especially important for making a money origami airplane. If the bill is too wrinkled to hold a crease well, the finished plane won't fly at all. If necessary, you can iron your bill first using a standard iron set on very low heat. To begin making your money origami airplane, fold the dollar bill in half vertically. Crease well, then unfold. Fold the left and right sides up to meet the middle crease. When you're finished, your project should look like the photo to the left. 3. Fold the Wings of the Airplane Fold the top layer of the bill down to meet the bottom crease as shown in the photo to the left. Flip the paper over and repeat. Double check to make sure the wings are symmetrical. Lopsided wings will keep the airplane from flying properly. 4. Complete Your Money Origami Airplane Your money origami airplane is complete. Hold the back together with your fingers when you are throwing it. You can also try adding a paperclip to the back to see how the extra weight affects the flight path. 5. More Money Origami Airplanes Another popular paper airplane design that can be made with money is the classic dart plane. Simply fold your bill in half vertically and then make a plane using the same folds you learned in grade school.
